Welcome to My Oregon Mycelium, a capstone project by Ingrid in the Oregon Naturalist program presented by Oregon State University’s Extension Program. This is an evolving site that begins as a directory of resources at its core, and will grow to include much more of our state’s parks, programs, and educational material. In the future, the site will include more photos of featured natural areas, and points of interest. A message board for community engagement is also a goal!
This capstone project is centered around the Upper Willamette Valley and Columbia River Gorge areas, and will eventually branch out to include as much of the state as possible. All naturalists, educators, and environmental stewards of our beautiful state are valued and appreciated.
The Coyote Wall Formation - Comprised of Columbia River Basalt was formed between 19 million and 17 million years ago from lava flows related to the same hot spot in the earth that is now underneath Yellowstone National Park. The North American plate moves westward as oceanic crust subducts beneath it, resulting in the formation of the Cascade Mountains.
